This concise 12-minute mini-seminar overview for OEM product designers, engineers and specifiers is a valuable refresher for those experienced in the process, and an invaluable introduction for engineers new to designing for die casting. Included is a detailed list of specific guides, bulletins and manuals for further reference.

Mag Housing Walls from CWM Bring Light Weight, Multiple
Functions and Reduced Part Counts to New Imaging Unit

Advantages in weight and part reduction, lower assembly costs: The 12 x 17 in. CWM Mg parts are the latest examples of what high-tech die casting can bring to complex housings for a wide range of products. New Lean Manufacturing Initiatives Move
Forward Broadly Across CWM Operations

As part of CWM’s program of implementing lean manufacturing initiatives, the following new developments have been announced:

Advanced reciprocating die spray units are being installed in the Aluminum and Magnesium Die Casting Depts. on 30- to 60-day cycles. These new generation die-release applicators offer far greater die spray precision, faster machine cycle times and lower equipment maintenance costs.

A CWM-developed fixture positioning system that promises to cut up to 50% in fixture set-up times has been installed in the CNC Machining Division to meet greater efficiency goals and the needs of increased production volumes. This new, more flexible design for rapid repeat positioning is being introduced on all appropriate CNC centers. A new state-of-the-art vertical machining center has also been added to CWM's post-casting machining capabilities.

Utilization of its advanced Magmasoft® system for die casting process simulation in the Engineering Dept. has further expanded to all projects which can benefit from detailed projections of die fill prior to die construction.
